What is a domestic violence injunction?

A domestic violence injunction, sometimes called a protective or restraining order, is a court order which defines and/or limits interaction between the aggressor and the victim in a domestic violence situation. An injunction can address matters such as temporary child custody, temporary home usage, conversations or other interactions between the two parties, and compensation for any injuries sustained as a result of abuse.
