What is expungement?

Expungement is a legal process by which a person’s criminal record may be “cleaned up.” If you meet the qualifications, you may be able to have an arrest – or even a conviction – wiped off your record. After part of your record has been expunged, you can legally claim that the arrest or conviction never occurred, and the information cannot be used against you.
